Avignon is called the UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its long history, great landmarks and buildings. Avignon is located in the southern France and has a long history dating back to the Roman Empire. One famous landmark is the Cathedrale Notre-Dame des Doms with its large statue of Virgin Mary. Notre-Dame is also the final resting place for Pope Benedict XII and Pope John XXII. You can visit Notre-Dame everyday as its open daily for tourist and seems to be�’the major’ attraction in Avignon.
